Leland golf course named one of the state's best

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

By Jason Frye

Cape Fear National, the Tim Cate-designed course at Brunswick Forest in Leland, was recently named among the “Top 10 Best Courses You Can Play in NC – 2011” by Golfweek Magazine.

This is the second year the course has been open. In its inaugural year it was named “Top 10 Best New Courses 2010” by GOLF Magazine, “Best New Courses of 2010” by LINKS Magazine and “Best New Courses List 2010” by Golfweek Magazine.

Out of the top 10 in Golfweek’s 2011 list, Cape Fear National was the only course named from the Wilmington area. Six courses were named from the Pinehurst area, putting Cape Fear National in some lofty company.

“We are honored to receive this latest award from Golfweek,” said Jim Hahn, general manager at Cape Fear National. “Considering all of the quality golf courses located in the state of North Carolina, this award speaks volumes.”

Cape Fear National’s commitment isn’t just to world-class golf. From Thursday through Sunday, the course will offer a special rate of $35 for tee times after 11 a.m. to free up funds for golfers to give to the Folds of Honor Foundation. Folds of Honor is a nonprofit foundation that provides postsecondary scholarships for the children or spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving the United States.

The campaign will culminate with a Patriot Day Golf Tournament on Labor Day. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament’s entry fee, as well as the other funds collected, will be given to Folds of Honor at the tournament’s close.

The Patriot Day Golf Tournament is a national campaign supported by the PGA of America and the United States Golf Association. The tournament at Cape Fear National is open to the public. Entry fees are $45 and the tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

For registration information, contact Cape Fear National at (910) 338-3283, or visit www.capefearnational.com.

Movin' and Groovin' at Brunswick Forest

Monday, June 13, 2011

The past weekend at Brunswick Forest was a flurry of activity.  We kicked-off the 3rd Annual Brunswick Forest Summer Concert Series with the funky, party tunes of Soul Power Posse.  Then, followed up the concert with the Grand Opening of Hammock Lake, the latest amenity to grace the long list of first-class facilities Brunswick Forest has in place.

At Hammock Lake, we kicked back to tunes brought to us specially by our local DJ, Rodney "The Music Man" Axsom; we snacked lakeside to our heart's delight on the best burgers and dogs offered by Cape Fear National; then topped off the day with our first-ever Cardboard Boat Regatta, a 300-yard dash across the pristine waters of Hammock Lake...first one to the beach wins!  And, win they did!  Be sure to check out all of our pictures on Facebook.

Lastly, we wrapped the weekend on a high note...seven new families joined Brunswick Forest...music to everyone's ears!  We look forward to the next summer concert on July 8th with Mike Edwards and The Banned and to welcoming more new families to Brunswick Forest, the Coastal South's fastest growing community.

Brunswick Forest Builders Bring Home Top Honors

Thursday, May 26, 2011
The Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association recently held their 25th Annual Parade of Homes.  For years, the Parade of Homes has been the a place for families to explore the options of new home ownership in the Cape Fear region and an excellent way for prominent builders in the area to showcase their finest homes.

During the weekends of May 14-15 and May 21-22, the annual Parade featured 50 new homes.  Ten of these homes on the Parade were located in Brunswick Forest, the Coastal South's fastest growing community and we had over 1,000 visitors through our homes.  The strength and commitment of the preferred builders in Brunswick Forest reflects the overall vibrancy of the housing marketing with in the community.

Several of the preferred Brunswick Forest builders brought home top honors in their housing category.

Hearthside Builders brought home a Gold (for the Cardinale II) and a Bronze (for the Shelter Island); Trusst Builders received a Gold (for the Biscayne); and Kent Homes took a Silver (for the Lumina).

Congratulations to all who participated in the Parade of Homes!

Groundbreaking Held for Lowes Foods, CVS/Pharmacy; Anchor Tenants at The Villages at Brunswick Forest

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

WILMINGTON, NC, April 4, 2011 – More than 150 people attended groundbreaking ceremonies at The Villages at Brunswick Forest last week, ushering in the start of site preparation and other early construction work for Lowes Foods and CVS/pharmacy stores.

The two anchor tenants represent approximately 55,000 square feet of additional offerings at the Wilmington, NC community town center. Developers expect the opening of both stores sometime around the middle of 2012.

The Villages at Brunswick Forest is a 160-acre complex that will be made up of more than 500,000 square feet of retail and professional establishments.  It is located at the entrance to Brunswick Forest on US Hwy 17 ten minutes south of Downtown Wilmington, NC, a 4,500-acre residential community offering homes, town homes and home sites with extensive community amenities.

“We’re delighted to welcome both Lowes Foods and CVS to the Villages at Brunswick Forest,” said Alan Kerry, president of Lord Baltimore Properties, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lord Baltimore Capital Corporation and the sole developer of the community.  “Clearly both corporations recognized our growth and decided this is where they wanted to be.  They’ll be serving our growing community and the surrounding areas for years to come.”

Last year more homes and home sites sold in Brunswick Forest than at any time in the community’s four-year history.  According to the development’s closed sales records, 105 homes and 40 home sites for a total of 145 unit sales were recorded in 2010, representing a volume of more than $41 million.   More than 715 families now call the community home.

Kerry and other Brunswick Forest officials spoke before a large gathering of Brunswick Forest community residents, local officials and members of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce who also attended a “Business After Hours” event held this month at the Brunswick Forest Welcome Center.

Work has already begun clearing and preparing ground for a parking lot and other infrastructure to support the approximately 42,000 sq. ft. Lowes Foods FreshSmart store, an 8,000 sq. ft. attachment for additional retail outlets and a standalone CVS/pharmacy of approximately 13,000 sq. ft.

Kerry noted that leasing discussions are also underway for potential tenants in the 8,000 sq. ft. additional retail attachment, and encouraged interested businesses to contact Brunswick Forest leasing representatives as soon as possible.

Lowes Foods began in 1954 as a single store in North Wilkesboro, NC, and has grown to become a major supermarket chain operating in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia with more than 100 stores emphasising freshness, fresh food quality and selection and customer service.

CVS/pharmacy has more than 7,000 CVS/pharmacy locations from coast to coast, offering prescription medications and related health care products.  In addition, the stores also offer popular beauty, health, and personal care brands as well as an assortment of other brands not available at other U.S. drugstores.

The Villages at Brunswick Forest

The Villages at Brunswick Forest has been enjoying steadily growing occupancy by a variety of businesses drawn to the growing Brunswick Forest property owner base and to the growth of the Brunswick County area in general.

Last summer New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) opened a 40,000 sq. ft. Health and Diagnostics building in The Villages, bringing physicians, technicians and other healthcare providers to serve Brunswick forest and area communities.  Most recently,

Wilmington Health Associates, a multi-faceted medical practice that last summer moved into 5,000 square feet of office space in the New Hanover Regional Medical Center office building, now plans to double their existing space.

With a main campus in central Wilmington, NC, just opened is the Glen Meade Center for Women’s Health, which has nearly 2,000 square feet of additional practice space in the NHRMC office building and has begun seeing patients following several months of upfit work to install state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Also occupying the NHRMC medical office building are practices that include Atlantic Orthopedic, Morgan Internal Medicine and Urology Comprehensive Services.  In a standalone building, construction is nearing completion on the Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital, a 4,500 square foot, highly specialized facility that will represent one of the most advanced in the area.

Already located in The Villages is Port City Java, BB&T Financial Center, Blue Wave Dentistry and a Brunswick County Sherriff substation.  Announcements regarding the start of construction for other major shopping and lodging facilities is expected shortly.

Brunswick Forest is situated on 4,500 acres of woodlands, creeks, forests and natural areas.  Residents choose from a wide range of prices and lifestyle options, from low-maintenance luxury town homes to home sites and spacious custom homes. Secluded neighborhoods, each with its own distinctive character, are found throughout the community. Residents also enjoy a wide variety of amenities in place today, including an 18-hole Championship golf course at Cape Fear National®, an 18,000 square foot Fitness and Wellness Center, a Community Commons, a River Club, parks and natural areas and more than 100 miles of paths and trails.

Home sites begin at $75,000; homes start at the $200,000s.

Our Brunswick Forest Family continues to grow...

Thursday, January 13, 2011
Today our Brunswick Forest family grew...

...by three new soft-bellied baby girl swans!  Last spring, our resident swans joined us and decided to call Brunswick Forest "home!"  Now, it brings us great joy that they have chosen Brunswick Forest as the place they will raise their family.

This special occasion makes us reflect on just how thankful we are for all the families that just like The Swans have decided to call Brunswick Forest "home."

Our families at Brunswick Forest are truly what make the lifestyle.  Daily you will find them walking and biking the nature trails; gathering with their friends in the park for a picnic; or kayaking at the River Club.

Come join us on a Coastal Discovery Tour and experience the Brunswick Forest lifestyle for yourself.  Oh, and while you are visiting be sure to say "hello" to the Swan Family!
