Meet Patrick Crean, Brunswick Forest Lifestyle Consultant

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Hello! My name is Patrick Crean, Lifestyle Consultant for Brunswick Forest.

I spent the first twenty-six years of my life on Long Island, NY, the last four of which, I worked as a police officer for the Nassau County Police Department. After meeting my wife, Naomi, I made several trips to the Wilmington, NC area and had the opportunity to play many of the fantastic golf courses and spend days on the beautiful barrier-island beaches and I quickly came to the realization that if I lived here I would no longer have to endure long, cold winters and bumper-to-bumper traffic on the Long Island Expressway!

After my move south in 1990, I accepted a cart attendant position at a local golf facility and I thoroughly enjoyed being around the golf course environment and meeting so many wonderful people from all over the world. Fours years later, I completed my apprentice program and received Class “A” status with the PGA of America. I accepted my first Head Professional position in 1997 and I consider myself very fortunate to have been associated with some of our area’s finest golf communities during my golf career. In 2006, I acquired my NC real estate license and since then I have been helping people do the same thing that I did almost 22 years ago – move south!

I am excited about being a part of the Brunswick Forest family and I look forward to having the opportunity to show you all of the unique benefits that make the Wilmington, NC area and Brunswick Forest the perfect place to call home!

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Hi!  I’m Brian Schrader, Lifestyle Consultant for Brunswick Forest.

I was born and raised on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland.  I learned the value of hard work and dedication from a young age, working side-by-side with my father and family on our dairy farm.  I moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1996 and graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  I was blessed with the opportunity to work as a chemist for many years and participated in projects for Johns Hopkins University and the Environment Protection Agency.  In 2003, my passion for helping people led me into the real estate industry.

In my spare time, I enjoy coaching local high school lacrosse, surfing, fishing and spending time with my family.  North Carolina has given me many opportunities to maintain my interest in pastime hobbies as well as providing my family with a relaxed and enjoyable lifestyle that I have always envisioned and desired.

Brunswick Forest and the Wilmington area offer so much for one to enjoy.  I hope you will consider visiting us soon.

Despite Economy, Hurricane Irene and Gyrating Stock Market Brunswick Forest Continues on Record Home Sales Pace

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

LELAND, NC, August 30, 2011 --- In the wake of Hurricane Irene that last week moved along the East Coast, a gyrating stock market and a national economy still struggling to find its footing, the Wilmington, NC area community of Brunswick Forest continues to set real estate sales records.

Home and home site sales through the first eight months of 2011 number 117, eclipsing the 101 unit sales market set in the first eight months of 2010.  This represents the fastest sales pace since doors opened not quite five years ago in the community.

All told more than $28.5 million in homes and home sites have sold through August of 2011.  Brunswick Forest Realty officials say at that pace the community is on track for more than 165 homes and home sites totaling more than $40 million for the 2011 year.

Home sites at Brunswick Forest begin at $75,000; homes begin in the mid-$200,000s.

Thankfully Hurricane Irene spared the pristine Wilmington, NC area getaways of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Wrightsville Beach and Oak Island Beach, said Jerry Helms, Brunswick Forest director of sales and marketing, making the area all the more attractive to water-soaked residents of other coastal areas seeking Labor Day getaways this coming weekend.

Brunswick Forest is less than 20 minutes away from many of the popular beach areas and ten minutes away from Historic Downtown Wilmington, NC.

“It’s been one challenge after another this year,” said Helms, “but if there is a constant, it’s the growing popularity of Brunswick Forest,” said Helms.

“In the end it comes down to lifestyle and value,” he said. “More and more people are coming to the Wilmington, NC area, and more and more people are recognizing what we have to offer in our community.  That’s good news for Brunswick Forest, and good news for the Wilmington area.”

Nearly 800 families have purchased at Brunswick Forest, which Helms says makes it the fastest growing community in the Coastal South.

While Wilmington, NC area real estate sales remain relatively flat, Brunswick Forest officials point to factors that include developer resources, location, local roots and a growing community whose neighbors keep telling their friends about Brunswick Forest as important reasons for what by any measure appears to be a significant real estate success story during difficult times.

Brunswick Forest is a residential community situated on 4,500 acres of woodlands, creeks, forests and natural areas set 10 minutes from Historic Downtown Wilmington, NC.  Residents choose from a wide range of prices and lifestyle options, from low-maintenance luxury town homes to home sites and spacious custom homes. Secluded neighborhoods, each with its own distinctive character, are found throughout the community. Residents also enjoy a wide variety of amenities in place today, including an 18-hole Championship golf course at Cape Fear National®, an 18,000 square foot Fitness and Wellness Center, a Community Commons, a River Club, parks and natural areas and more than 100 miles of paths and trails. New Hanover Regional Medical Center has opened a 40,000 square foot medical office building at The Villages at Brunswick Forest, a major retail, professional and entertainment center at the community's entrance.

In addition, construction has begun on Lowes Foods and CVS/pharmacy stores in The Villages at Brunswick Forest, two anchor tenants representing approximately 55,000 sq. ft. of additional retail offerings at the Wilmington, NC community town center.  Developers are anticipating the opening of both stores sometime around the middle of 2012.

Meadow Park Cottages take shape

Thursday, July 07, 2011

Construction has officially begun on the all new single-family Meadow Park Cottages.  Home sites have been cleared; footers have been poured; and the frames are going up for the first three cottages in this exclusive coastal cottage neighborhood.  The first three cottages are scheduled to be complete this October and will represent the three floor plans and exterior designs offered throughout this neighborhood.

This is a limited release and demand is expected to be high with the offering starting in the mid $200s.  The homes are expected to be attractive to a variety of buyers.  One category includes the active pre-retiree/retiree looking to downsize their current home.  There’s also a strong second home market, which is especially attractive if those buyers are seeking rental income.  Some of the cottages will be used to house prospective purchasers visiting Brunswick Forest on our three day/two night Coastal Discovery Tour

To build these new inventive and unique cottages, Brunswick Forest sought out a creative builder and found Penton New Homes to do the job.

Penton New Homes is a division of Penton Development, Inc., a full service real estate development company that has been building residential properties in the Wilmington area for over 20 years.  Owner and principal, Howard A. Penton III, is a Wilmington native who started his career in the real estate and construction industry in 1988.  Howard is actively involved in every step of the construction process, from design to final finishes. By having skilled craftsmen as direct employees a quality product is produced every time.

Brunswick Forest Makes Where to Retire's 50 Best Master Plan Communities' List

Tuesday, June 07, 2011
Yesterday, Where to Retire released its 50 Best Master Plan Communities in the United States.  Brunswick Forest made the Where to Retire top 50 list, ranked in the top eight in NC and was the only community to make the list in the Greater Wilmington, NC area!  See what Where to Retire has to say...

Where to Retire Magazine Announces

50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States

Houston, TX (June 6, 2011) – Where to Retire reveals “The Short List: 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States” in the bimonthly magazine’s July/August issue on newsstands June 21. Retirees today have their sights set on a dynamic and fulfilling retirement lifestyle, seeking out communities with friendly neighbors and amenities to keep their minds and bodies active.

Research began nearly a year ago when Where to Retire editors gathered information on more than 150 communities across the nation and eventually zeroed in on those that are amenity-rich, with clubhouses, recreation and activities to help residents stay fully engaged.

Where to Retire publisher Karen Northridge said, “Like the people who inhabit them, no two master-planned developments are exactly alike. Yet, the combination of amenities and social opportunities at each produces a common result: the interesting, active and fulfilling lifestyle retirees seek. Clubhouses, fitness centers, social clubs and educational classes mean residents get much more than a house at a planned community.”

The selection contains communities in 17 states, including places beyond traditional retirement havens. The choice of neighborhoods runs the gamut in price, from those featuring manufactured homes starting in the $80,000s to developments where site-built, single-family homes begin in the mid-$400,000s. Just over half the developments are active-adult communities, where residents must meet minimum age requirements. The communities are not ranked, but rather profiled in alphabetical order by state. Also, a two-page chart gives a snapshot of all 50 choices and a guide to their amenities.

In addition to the top 50 communities, Where to Retire includes the Hall of Fame, a small group of established neighborhoods previously recognized by the magazine, as well as Communities on the Rise.

About Where to Retire

This July/August issue marks the seventh biennial honor roll of America’s best master-planned communities compiled by Where to Retire. The magazine, launched in 1992, is published six times each year. Every issue profiles top retirement towns, both undiscovered and well-known, and master-planned communities that cater to retirees.  Where to Retire can be found on various newsstands and at Barnes & Noble bookstores. www.WhereToRetire.com.

Brunswick Forest Builders Bring Home Top Honors

Thursday, May 26, 2011
The Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association recently held their 25th Annual Parade of Homes.  For years, the Parade of Homes has been the a place for families to explore the options of new home ownership in the Cape Fear region and an excellent way for prominent builders in the area to showcase their finest homes.

During the weekends of May 14-15 and May 21-22, the annual Parade featured 50 new homes.  Ten of these homes on the Parade were located in Brunswick Forest, the Coastal South's fastest growing community and we had over 1,000 visitors through our homes.  The strength and commitment of the preferred builders in Brunswick Forest reflects the overall vibrancy of the housing marketing with in the community.

Several of the preferred Brunswick Forest builders brought home top honors in their housing category.

Hearthside Builders brought home a Gold (for the Cardinale II) and a Bronze (for the Shelter Island); Trusst Builders received a Gold (for the Biscayne); and Kent Homes took a Silver (for the Lumina).

Congratulations to all who participated in the Parade of Homes!
