How to spend Earth Day at Brunswick Forest

Friday, April 20, 2012

With Earth Day just around the corner, we’ve come up with 10 ways to join in the fun at Brunswick Forest.

  1. Walk, bike or hike on the 100+ miles of trails throughout picturesque Brunswick Forest…be sure to stroll through the boardwalk!
  2. Gather your neighbors and walk your favorite park picking up any litter you see along the way.  When finished, reward yourselves with ice cold lemonade.
  3. Grab a friend and head down to the River Club at Brunswick Forest for a kayak adventure.
  4. Get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Take a picture of something that inspires you!
  5. Visit the Brunswick Forest Tree Nursery.  Did you know that Brunswick Forest has planted over 1000 trees throughout the community?!
  6. Cook a special Earth Day dinner and invite your friends and neighbors. Plan a menu that uses locally produced foods, is healthy and has minimal impact on the environment.
  7. It’s not too late to get the kids together for an Earth Day Fair.  Have each child create a display showcasing environmentally-friendly products, recycling tips, Earth Day inspired artwork or healthy/locally grown foods to eat.  Then, gather at the Community Commons near the Brunswick Forest Fitness & Wellness Center and put on the fair.
  8. Visit the Leland Recreation Building on Saturday, April 21st for the Free Plant Giveaway in honor of Earth Day 2012.
  9. Start composting!  There’s no time like the present…just visit your local hardware store and they can get you started.
  10. Be car free…walk to The Villages in Brunswick Forest to start your morning off and grab a cup of coffee at Port City Java.  Then, head to the Fitness and Wellness Center for a quick work out.  Finish your day surrounded by your friends, family and neighbors because there is no better way to celebrate Earth Day than to be with the people you love!

Your guide to Brunswick Forest, Kim Fanelli

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

Hello.  I’m Kim Fanelli, Lifestyle Consultant for Brunswick Forest.

I was born and raised in Maryville, TN a small town just a few miles south of Knoxville.  Growing up in the Smoky Mountains was beautiful; however I always longed for the coast.  As a child we would go to the beach for our annual family vacations and it is then that I fell in love with the ocean.  As fate would have it, in 1992, I had the opportunity to move to Wilmington, NC and live on the coast.  I continued my real estate career here and have truly enjoyed everything about this area.  The water, climate, food and entertainment just can’t be beat!  Wilmington is a charming area with civil war history, a large port, university, international airport, state-of-the-art medical care and last but not least the BEACH!!!  It has been a wonderful place to raise a family.  My husband, Jim, and I have three children; two who are currently attending the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and one who graduated from UNCW in 2008.  I have been with Brunswick Forest since its inception. It has been amazing watching the transformation from the beginning.  I have now had the pleasure of watching over 800 families choose to call Brunswick Forest “home.”

We have four mild seasons here at Brunswick Forest; so golfing, sight seeing, shopping, boating, and walking our miles of nature trails can be experienced all year long!  In addition to the great weather, we have low taxes, little traffic, and a fantastic location.  Please consider a visit to our area to experience our beautiful neighborhood first-hand.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

I am a native to the Wilmington area and grew up just minutes from Brunswick Forest.  I attended college at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and managed several restaurants throughout the Wilmington area.  Now, I get to pursue my passion in real estate and help families find the perfect place to call “home!”  And what a great place to call “home,” from the water and warm climate to the eclectic food and nightlife…you just can’t beat it!  I have been with Brunswick Forest for several years now and life couldn’t be better!

We enjoy the best of all seasons here at Brunswick Forest and we can golf; walk the trails; and take in the outdoors all year long.

Meet The Trollingers

Tuesday, July 05, 2011

John, Sophie, Johnny and Becky Trollinger

This friendly family of four came to Brunswick Forest from Vermont as a threesome (little Sophie was on her way) in 2008 in search of the perfect place to call "home."

"The most important thing about choosing our next home was being able to walk out the front door and go for a walk," says Becky.  "It's our thing...John, the kids and I like to end the night with a stroll."  Brunswick Forest fit the bill offering over 100 miles of walking, biking and nature trails woven intricately throughout the community.

The Trollingers couldn't be happier with their decision.   "The kids have so many friends here and places to play...they love the pool!   John and I love it too...we both love the gym, but we think our favorite thing about Brunswick Forest is how wonderful, kind and pleasant the residents are here.  No one is a stranger!"
