A Clinton-based burger spot bragging housemade buns, Angus burgers hand-pattied daily and fries and onion rings cut in-house is moving into a unit under construction at Brunswick Forest.

Bessie Burger will fill a 2,100-square-foot space at the Villages at Brunswick Forest shopping area, Brunswick Forest representatives said.

The restaurant, scheduled to open in late spring or early summer, will be in a four-unit complex between the existing CVS Pharmacy and Port City Java coffee shop, according to Brunswick Forest director of communications Brandy Marshall and Brunswick Forest commercial property manager Lannin Kerry.

The Clinton Bessie Burger, owned by Frank Brinkley, is at 341 Northeast Blvd., according to the restaurant’s website. Brinkley did not immediately return phone calls, but in a video at the website, he said that Bessie is a 2-year-old business named after his sister.

“We don’t consider ourselves fast food; we consider ourselves quick service,” Brinkley said, emphasizing the restaurant’s use of fresh ingredients and cooking to order.

One of the most popular offerings is the Bessie Burger, a Carolina-style stack with mustard, chili, onions, coleslaw and American cheese, Brinkley said. Various other burgers and sandwiches are on the menu as well as salads, shakes and sundaes. The restaurant gets high marks at public restaurant review websites.
