Golfer teeing off at Cape Fear National

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Our region is known for having more than its fair share of outstanding golf courses. The newest addition is a course in Leland. Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest held its grand opening today.

Former PGA Tour player Bobby Clampett participated in the celebration by playing the front nine. Clampett was a hit with the fans, as is the course itself. Tim Cate is the course architect.

Cape Fear National is open to the public. The tees, fairways and primary rough are grassed in Tifway 419 Bermuda. The greens are bent grass, large and challenging.

The Coach’s Corner Sunday on WWAY will showcase Monday’s grand opening at Cape Fear National. On the show you’ll get to see Bobby Clampett playing golf, talking golf and analyzing golf. He’ll even analyze John Rendleman’s swing. John participated in a charity million dollar shootout during Monday’ grand opening event. The Coach’s Corner airs Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on WWAY.
