August 7th, Park Landing III residents gathered at the first local celebration of National Night Out. According to the NNO website, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. The event aims to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

This national event is hosted around the country on the first Tuesday in August and this year Brunswick Forest resident, Bob Page sponsored the event at his home in our Park Landing neighborhood from 6-9pm.

“We had over 100 residents from Park Landing III at our 1st local celebration of NNO at which hamburgers and hotdogs and several side dishes were provided. The Brunswick County Sheriff Department was represented in force with several vehicles, a motorcycle, tent and giveaways. They talked into the night with our residents about their programs, etc. A state trooper also arrived near the end of the evening,” according to the event host, Mr. Page.

The Town of Leland also sponsored their own gathering to celebrate NNO last Tuesday at Leland Municipal Park. Their event featured music, Poor Piggy’s BBQ food truck, safety demonstrations and games.
