KITEBOARDING AT LOCAL WATERWAYS
The Wilmington area is one of the most ideal locations in the country for water sports enthusiasts. Lately, many Brunswick Forest and Wilmington area residents are enjoying kiteboarding in the nearby Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
KITEBOARDING
Kiteboarding, or “kitesurfing” as it is sometimes referred to, combines elements of wakeboarding, snowboarding and windsurfing and is considered an extreme sport. Using the power of the wind, kiteboarders propel across the water and typically use foot straps to keep themselves attached to the board.
AREA WATERWAYS
Brunswick Forest is conveniently-located close to several area waterways that are ideal for kiteboarding. The Intracoastal Waterway is located just a short drive from the community and offers opportunities for not only kiteboarding but also stand-up paddleboarding, fishing and kayaking. Both southern and eastern-facing beaches are located just 20-25 minutes from Brunswick Forest and are the perfect place for residents to try out this extreme sport!
