The Annual Memorial Day Program at Wilmington National Cemetery went on as scheduled Monday morning despite heavy rains in the area. The New Hanover County Veterans Council organizes the annual service. This council is made up of a loose confederation of local veteran organizations, their auxiliaries, and other patriotic organizations, which act together in matters of mutual interest and concern for their 4,000+ members and their country’s 19,000+ veterans.

Despite the rain, a large group attended the service, which honored veterans of the U.S. armed forces who have passed.

The New Hanover High School Color Guard presented colors for the Ceremony.
