With the start of a new year, the travel and booking site, Trip Advisor, has released their annual Travelers’ Choice awards for Destinations on the Rise. Coming in at number three on the list? The bustling riverfront city of Wilmington, North Carolina! Dubbing our coastal community one of the top destinations to visit nationwide, the Port City  stands out for all the right reasons.

“Wilmington is a vibrant riverfront city with the pedestrian-friendly Riverwalk winding along the Cape Fear River, connecting many of the city’s charming shops, cafe’s, and nightlife with waterfront hotels, parks and the Port City Marina. Annual festivals, such as Riverfest, Wilmington Beer Week and the world-famous North Carolina Azalea Festival, attract crowds year-round. Three nearby beaches offer even more dining, attractions and water sports,” according to the Trip Advisor release.

The Battleship, North Carolina ranks as the top attraction in the area on Trip Advisor, followed by Airlie Gardens and the Historic District. Also voted as America’s Best Riverfront by USA Today, Wilmington’s scenic Riverwalk appeals to both locals and visitors year-round who are looking for easy access to boutiques, cafes and nightlife. Just minutes away from three area beaches, our coastal community is also filled with family-friendly attractions, one-of-a-kind festivals and a unique culture and history that stand out among the rest.

“These winners were based on destination feedback and interest from the TripAdvisor community, and a common thread is that they all have outstanding accommodations, wonderful restaurants and exceptional attractions for every travel budget,” said Brooke Ferencsik, Trip Advisor’s senior director of communications.

Our award-winning community is nestled just minutes from downtown Wilmington’s historic district and a short 30-minute drive from southeastern North Carolina’s Cape Fear beaches. Brunswick Forest’s location allows residents accessibility to Wilmington’s riverfront and pristine beaches – while still being set apart on 4,500 heavily-wooded acres containing parks, nature trails and creeks. The location in conjunction with the wealth of amenities offered through out the community show why Brunswick Forest is such a desirable place to call home.
